Membership

Temple Aliyah has over 400 member families from Needham, Wellesley, Dover, Medfield, Westwood, Newton, Dedham, and other communities in the greater Boston area, and even a few in New York, New Jersey, and Florida! Our families are of all sorts: couples and single parents with children and those without  children, interfaith, gay and “empty nesters.”

It is considered a mitzvah to support the Jewish community. Your membership in a synagogue is a way to fulfill this important mitzvah. Recent studies have indicated that the future of the Jewish people in America rests largely with the strength and vitality of its synagogues. We hope you will choose to join our Temple Aliyah community.

We have four different membership categories:

  • Regular
  • Junior (age 35 and under)
  • Single member
  • Senior (65 and older)

Dues are based on membership category. Please call the Temple Office at 781-444-8522 for a copy of the current dues and fees schedule. We are committed to the principle that financial circumstances should not be an obstacle to membership. If ability to pay is a concern, we would be happy to have our Financial Secretary meet with you to make appropriate special arrangements.

We have special programs throughout the year for new members, to help integrate families into the life of our congregation, to introduce them to our professional and lay leadership, and to teach them about opportunities for participating in and contributing to all of our programs. All of our religious services and most of our programs are open to non-members. With some exceptions for our youngest students, membership in the congregation is required for children to be enrolled in our Religious School.  Some Adult Education, Family Education and other programs may have additional costs or fees for non-members.

Seats at services for the High Holidays are included with the cost of membership. Non-members may also purchase High Holiday tickets, through the Temple Office. Any payment for High Holiday tickets will be credited towards the membership dues if you decide to join during the subsequent year.
