Director of Education
Jennifer Rudin joined Temple Aliyah as Director of Education in July 2011. She oversees our Religious School and USY Program and works closely with Temple Tots and TAK26. Jennifer earned a B.S. from Wheaton College where, as a Wheaton Scholar, she designed her own major in Urban Bilingual Education. Jennifer’s undergraduate research focused on the impact of Transitional and Maintenance Bilingual Education on the psych-social development of elementary aged children. After three years of teaching Jennifer was awarded tenure in the Attleboro Public School System.
Recognizing that her true passion lay in Jewish living and learning Jennifer left public school teaching and in 1989 began her career in Jewish education. Jennifer has served as Education Director at Temple Shalom in Milton and Temple Beth Emunah in Brockton. She was the Family Educator at Temple Beth Abraham in Canton and at The Rashi School and was awarded the Keter Torah Award from the Bureau of Jewish Education for her ground-breaking work in Family Education. Most recently Jennifer served as Director of Congregational Learning at Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline. She was awarded a second Keter Torah Award as well as awards for Excellence in Congregational Education from United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism for the program of congregational education that she developed at KI. Jennifer earned a Certificate in Family Education and a Masters in Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Newton. Her Masters thesis considered issues of Leadership Transition in Jewish Day Schools.
Jennifer is committed to supporting learners as they make their way on their personal Jewish journeys. She is passionate about the integration of students with special needs in the Religious School classroom and hopes to continue the tradition of joyful Jewish living, learning and celebrating at Temple Aliyah. Jennifer lives in Canton with her daughters Elana, Mariel and Gabrielle.
