Descriptions of funds
For a description of how to endow your own named fund, see below.
Temple Enrichment Funds ($10.00 minimum)
General
Funds support the daily operations of the Temple.
Cantor’s Music Education Fund
These funds benefit the music needs of the Temple.
Community Caring Fund
This fund provides a variety of support for our synagogue community, as overseen by our Hesed Committee: assistance for bereaved families including food deliveries, as needed, during shiva; home and hospital visits; assistance to the elderly and/or ill, including rides to religious services, doctors appointments or shopping.
Synagogue Enhancement Fund
These funds assist in the maintenance of the Temple Building and Grounds.
Religious School
Funds are used to supplement our religious school with educational tools.
Edna Gelman Library
Named in memory of Edna Gelman to revitalize and maintain Temple Aliyah’s library.
Passport to Israel
Passport to Israel is a savings incentive program that encourages families to start saving early for a child's educational Israel experience. The Jewish community believes that this type of experience is important for our youth. Contributions to this fund may offset the Temple’s matching contribution
Book Funds
Prayer Book Fund ($36.00 minimum)
Provides funds for the as needed purchase of Siddur Sim Shalom, the traditional siddur of the Conservative Movement. Inscribe the bookplate in honor or memory of a loved one.
Chumash Fund ($54.00 minimum)
Provides funds for the as needed purchase of the Etz Hayim Humash, the new Conservative Bible in use in the sanctuary. Inscribe the bookplate in honor or memory of a loved one.
These funds may be used at the discretion of the Rabbi, Vice President of Jewish Life, and Ritual Committee Chairperson, based on the needs of the community.
Memorial Funds-($25.00 minimum)
Chet Feldman Jewish Youth Program
This fund was established in 1996 in memory of former President Chet Feldman. The fund supports programs which are designed to promote Jewish continuity and participation in associated activities by our youth.
Marcia Levin Scholarship Fund
A special award and scholarship to Prozdor given to one member of the Zayin class who has shown excellent all-around academic work and who will be pursuing continued Jewish education.
Barbara Stein Garden
These funds are used to maintain the garden in front of the Temple named in memory of Barbara Stein.
Tree of Life
Tree of Life ($275 minimum)
Inscribe a leaf for any of life’s celebrations. These are intended to honor special milestones in your family’s life or in the life of a fellow Temple member. When a contribution is made, a leaf will be added to the Tree of Life outside the Chapel. The funds will be used for general operating purposes.
Special Funds (donations cannot be made on-line)
Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund
There are many instances during the year when Rabbi Perkins recognizes a particular need with in our Jewish community. The fund allows him to provide confidential assistance at his personal discretion. (Please note that donations cannot be made to the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund via this page. If you are interested in contributing to that fund, please contact the Rabbi’s secretary Rachel in the Temple office, either at 781-444-8522 or by email.)
Yahrzeit Plaque
Yahrzeit plaques memorializing a loved one are mounted on special yahrzeit boards in the Sanctuary, and these are lit around the time of the anniversary of the beloved’s death—and all are also on days on which Yizkor is recited. Click here for more information about ordering a plaque.
How to establish your own named fund at Temple Aliyah
The Your Name Here Special Usage Fund- To provide programs to support special needs of Temple Aliyah that might not otherwise be possible.
We welcome you to join the list of the Temple Tribute Funds. Several opportunities exist for new fund purposes to benefit Temple Aliyah. Of course, you may obtain naming rights for your fund. Funds must be structured to have a beginning principal amount of at least $36,000. Various creative methods exist for initial funding. Contact either the President, Treasurer or Endowment Committee, of Temple Aliyah for more information and to discuss potential purposes for new funds. The establishment of all new funds and their purposes are subject to the approval of the Temple Aliyah Board of Trustees.
