Bryan Wexler is thrilled to be joining the Temple Aliyah staff as the new Director of Community Education, beginning in August, 2009. Bryan graduated from Brandeis University in May, 2009 with a B.A. in Middle Eastern and Judaic Studies, Hebrew, and Philosophy. Bryan was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware and moved with his family to Princeton, New Jersey in high school. While at Brandeis, Bryan was very active in Hillel, serving as the social justice coordinator, the religious life coordinator, and ultimately the student president, serving over 1,000 Jewish students on campus.
In addition to his work with Hillel, Bryan has worked extensively within the Boston Jewish community. He has served as a Hebrew tutor and b’nai mitzvah tutor at the Beth El Temple Center in Belmont, Congregation Dorshei Tzedek in Newton, and BJEP at Brandies University. He also has spent the last three years teaching at Temple Isaiah in Lexington, MA.
Bryan has long known that he wanted to dedicate his life to working with and for the Jewish community. He is looking forward to his new role at Temple Aliyah and to working with congregants of all ages, especially youth.
Bryan has a passion for Jewish learning and has studied Hebrew, Jewish texts, and Jewish history at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, at the Pardes Institute in Jerusalem, and at Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT. In addition to his passion for Judaism, Bryan enjoys singing, traveling, and spending time with family. His (not so) secret addiction is sports, and he can often be found watching or playing games or surfing espn.com.
Bryan is currently planning a summer 2010 wedding with his fiancée, Rebecca.
