Meditation Service
Shabbat morning meditation services are offered on a monthly basis from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. These services give participants the opportunity to meditate Jewishly in a small group. The goals are to increase one’s spirituality and kavanah during Shabbat. Following the meditation service, many participants proceed to the sanctuary to join the main service.

Opportunities for Further Learning
For those wishing to learn more about the Shabbat liturgy, Learners’ Services are periodically offered on Shabbat mornings. These generally finish in time for participants to join the rest of the congregation in the sanctuary for the Rabbi’s sermon and Musaf.

From time to time, we also offer classes in Torah cantillation and other aspects of our services. Please click here for a list of our current adult education offerings. MP3 recordings are also available for all who are interested.

WebParasha

We are proud to have many congregants of all ages who enjoy reading Torah and Haftarah. Beginning in fall 2009, you will be able to sign up for Shabbat morning readings, print the Torah and Haftarah text, listen to an mp3 recording of the portion, keep records of your readings, and access tutorials - all on your own!

Youth Services
On most Shabbat mornings during the school year, we have a full program of age-appropriate services for pre-schoolers and school aged children. Shabbat Yeladim [link], for babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers and their parents, meets on the second and fourth Shabbat mornings every month. Youth services that meet weekly include three programs: Shabbat Gibborim for children in kindergarten and 1st grade, a service and activity for grades 2 and 3, and a youth service for grades 4 -6.

The youth service encourages participants to practice what they have learned in class and to become leaders of the service. Parents are welcome to join their children at any of these services. Whether or not a youth service is scheduled, children are warmly invited to come to synagogue on Shabbat mornings with their parents and to participate and sing along in our dynamic and energetic regular worship service.

To make it possible for parents of young children to attend services, babysitting is available from 10:00 to noon for children over 2.

Tot Shabbat

Friday Night Tot Sha-La-Lom Shabbat

At the end of a busy week, say “Shalom” to Shabbat and reconnect with your family and make new friends. Come sing, groove, shake and relax with our own Cantor Gastón. Our monthly program includes singing, musical props, stories and a short service to welcome Shabbat for children up to age 5. New this year, we will have a service for older siblings, Ruach Shabbat, at the same time. Some of the services are followed by a family-friendly Kosher dinner. All services begin at 5:30 pm (NOTE the new time).

Registration is requested for the service and advance paid reservations are required for dinners.

Shabbat Yeladim
Saturday morning services are fun for our youngest members with singing, marching, activities, silliness and prayers led by Karen Cohen. Shabbat Yeladim services start at 11am and always finish in time for the Congregational Kiddush. We meet on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Families are always welcome to stay for Kiddush lunch.
