The funeral will be Thursday, September 2 at 1:00 at Levine’s in Brookline, with burial at Sharon Memorial Park. Ronni and Amos will be sitting shiva at the home of Ronni’s mother, Harriet Jacobs, 155 Cotton Street in Newton: Thursday from 7-9,

Postponements - Rummage sale and Picnic

We thank any members who have diligently been setting aside sale items over the summer for our proposed early September rummage sale, but unfortunately we will not be able to hold it as planned. We will let you know if we can reschedule it for this coming spring.

Also please note that the TA Picnic, originally scheduled for next Sunday, September 12, has also been postponed, until some time next spring.

High Holidays

The High Holiday information books have been mailed out, but if you would like to check out the identical copy online, complete with clickable links from the Table of Contents, you can find it here as a pdf file.

Just looking for the schedule of services? Here it is.

Back by popular demand, TA neighborhood get togethers are a lovely way to shmooze with your TA neighbors. We are looking for hosts for our Neighborhood Get Togethers on the 2nd day of Rosh Hashanah 9/17 from 3-4:30. This is a “pot luck” get together, after services and prior to Shabbat. All that is requested are hosts homes in various Needham neighborhoods and surrounding towns. (You provide the home and paper goods, and your TA guests will bring Kosher desserts and drinks.) For more information and/or to offer your home, please email Pam Glass, Susan Kalish, or Ellen Sherman.

A reminder that your tickets were mailed to members along with the Booklet. If you need additional tickets, please call or email Jan in the office. Tickets for immediate family members may be purchased for $100 each; for extended relatives, guests, and/or friends, the cost is $300.

Child care for children ages 3 through pre-K will be offered by our Sisterhood each morning of the Holidays, but you must be pre-registered. More information and a registration form can be found here.

Please note that this year there will also be a new program for families with very young (0-3) children.

Jewish calendars wanted

Do you have extra copies of Jewish calendars for 2004-5, sent to you by the USCJ or some other organization? If you don’t want to throw them out, please donate them! Alba Toscano, the president of Congregation “La Javua” in Valencia, Spain, has requested these for her small but enthusiastic kehilla. Please drop these off at the Temple office, and we’ll gather them up and mail them off to her.

Instructor estraordinaire Ruth Diamond will teach a course over six Sunday mornings (September 19, 26, October 3, 17, 24, 31). The course will focus on reading and understainding of Hebrew texts from the siddur. The cost is $75 for members. More information and registration form can be found on the web site.

On the Web Site

We’ve got lots of good things in store for you this year, and we hope you’ll like many of the new features. The Cookbook page is being regularly revamped, and we hope you’ll contribute some recipes. We’ll have more resource materials on-line, along with the Rabbi’s sermons, and we hope to have an up-to-date calendar for the entire year available as well. And we’ll be updating some content, as well. If you notice something on the web site that needs updating, please let us know.

Let us know what you think of this new email format.
