  • HAVDALAH AND A MOVIE JANUARY 24
  •

In case you haven’t noticed, the Pats don’t face up to the Cougars until next Sunday, so there will be no football at all this weekend! Whattaya gonna do to fill the time? You need an excuse to sit around and stare at a screen with family and friends while indulging in gobs of carbs. Do we have the night for you!

On Saturday evening, January 24th, from 5-8 p.m., Temple Aliyah will transfrom into a Multiplex theater! We will begin with a light dinner for everyone, followed by Havdalah. We will then break into separate “theaters” for young kids, teens, and adults, for 3 separate movies. The cost is only $5 per person and includes free drinks and of course popcorn! Great features: Family: ‘Shrek’, Teen: Double feature including ‘The Frisco Kid’ & tba, Adult: ‘Keeping the Faith’.

Check out the web site for more details and for a reservation form, or email Terri.

  • MOVIE SERIES: “PURPLE LAWNS” ON JANUARY 25
  •

Our own TA Israeli Film Festival continues, following our successful November screening, with “Purple Lawns” (Deshaim S’Gulim)” on Sunday, January 25th, at 9:45 (following minyan). Join the Adult Ed and Israel Kesher committees for breakfast and movie.

Check out the plot synopsis on the web site (sounds like a serious Tel Aviv chick flick). The cost for the movie and breakfast (we’ll even throw in some leftover Saturday night popcorn if you want it that early in the morning) is $8, and reservations are requested.

  • SISTERHOOD SHABBAT
  •

Our annual Sisterhood Shabbat will take place on shabbat morning January 31. Please join us for this uplifting event, in which all aspects of the service are led by the women of our congregation.

Our special guest speaker will be Dr. Deeana Klepper.  Dr. Klepper will speak on “The Secret Life of Rashi’s Daughters: Women in Medieval Jewish Communities.”  Don’t miss this great opportunity to share in the joy of Shabbat with your sisterhood community and meet an engaging scholar and teacher of medieval Judaism. Check out all the details here.
