Director of Youth Engagement

Kayla Reisman

kayla.jpgKayla Reisman is excited to join the Temple Aliyah team as the Director of Youth Engagement. Kayla is a successful product of many Conservative Jewish organizations, from Schechter in Baltimore, to Seaboard USY, and Ramah in the Poconos. As if twelve years of day school wasn't enough, she spent her gap year before college on the Nativ College Leadership Program in Israel. In order to get some diversity, Kayla attended Dickinson College, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Judaic Studies and Sociology with a certificate in Jewish and Hebrew Education.

For the last two years, Kayla has put her Jewish background to work as the Senior Engagement Associate and Director of Jewish Student Life for Hillel at Ithaca College, where she supervised over 40 student leaders and engaged 700 Jewish students on campus. Kayla is excited to move to Boston this year to begin her graduate studies as an MA/MBA candidate at Brandeis University in the Hornstein Program and to work at Temple Aliyah. After staffing four Israel trips, and over 400 Jewish events, Kayla is an expert experiential educator and planner, and in 2016 Masorti on Campus named Kayla "Rosh Jewish Geography" for her excellent networking and connecting skills.

A feminist in her own right, Kayla's favorite causes relate to women's rights, sexual assault justice, and racial and economic inequality. Kayla also loves everything related to sign language and Deaf culture, and has incurable addictions to Facebook and Instagram. But most importantly, Kayla is really fun, really loves being Jewish, and would really like to meet you.

Feel free to email Kayla with any questions or suggestions you may have.

Did you know...?

In celebration of Rabbi Perkins’ more than 25 years at Temple Aliyah, here is this week's question: Do you know how many books are in the Rabbi’s Office library at the synagogue? If you guessed 1,223 you would be correct! What would you add to your own home library to round it out Jewishly? Here are some suggested books you might want to consider.
