As an MGH anesthesiologist, Dr. Lisa Wollman enjoyed the inner sanctum of the operating room. After joining MGH orthopedics, she encountered physicians who regularly scheduled two concurrent surgeries, leaving patients under anesthesia for longer periods of time. Seven years ago, after a five-year battle to change from within, she blew the whistle on concurrent surgery by cooperating with a Globe Spotlight investigation. Lisa will discuss how she made the decision to become a whistleblower and how it effected her professional life and her life as a patient.
